As is well-known that Date Palm is the most important plant in the Middle East and it is also very important in the history of Muslim. In 2008, King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) built the cooperation with Chinese Academy of Sciences and the two units launched a project to decode the genome of Date Palm together.
KOPRC II Project Meeting was organised on the 28th November 2013 in the Manor House Hotel, Moreton in Marsh, Gloucestershire, UK. 20 delegates from Oxford and KACST have attended this meeting discussing projects within the existing KOPRC-I and the forthcoming KOPRC-II programmes.
Abdullah Almaatouq, Ahmad Alabdulkareem, and Abdulziz Alhassan CCES researchers gave a tutorial at KACSTIT'13 introducing central concepts of Machine Learning with hands-on exercises. Machine Learning is a discipline involving algorithms designed to find patterns in data and make predictions.
Professor Anas Alfaris, CCES co director gave a keynote speech at the 2nd Saudi International Conference on Information Technology at King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACSTIT13).
Professor Anas Alfaris, CCES co director gave a keynote speech at the Grand Technology Parks event held at King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST). Alfaris talk was titled "The Joint Centers of Excellence Program: R&D With Global Reach", in which he talked about the Joint Centers of Excellence program, the umbrella under which CCES functions.

Fahad Alhasoun, the research specialist at CCES starts his masters degree in computation for design and optimization of the Center for Computational Engineering at MIT. While at CCES, Fahad was part of the Urban Transportation System (UTS) project, where he worked with cell phone data to extract transportation patterns in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
Mohammad Hadrawi, the research associate at CCES starts his degree in Media Arts and Sciences of the Media Lab at MIT. Hadrawi's work will be focused on creating a tangible interface for interactive decision making in urban development and planning.
Rayed Alwajeeh, the research specialist at CCES starts his Phd degree in Electrical Engineering at purdue, Rayed was part of the modeling team at the Integrated Energy Decision Support System (IEDSS) at CCES.
